"BUST" is the first album of the long-standing improvised collaboration between bassist Henry Fraser and saxophonist Sam Weinberg. Culled from a performance at the OPTION Series at the Experimental Sound Studio (Chicago) and a recording session at Seizure's Palace – recorded within weeks of each other – BUST is both a culmination of five years of steady collaboration yet also a distillation of a particular moment in their ever shifting language.

The two have performed in innumerable configurations over their five years of close work: in trio with drummers Weasel Walter, Mike Pride, Michael Vatcher, their collaboratively led group Maestro Day, and most recently in trio with clarinetist John McCowen. Yet their duo has been a constant amidst these various groupings and an effective gauge of their interests and dispositions; an improvisational rapport that is both fixed and flexible, one which draws heavily on European Free Improvisation traditions, but is influenced in equal measure by noise, musique concrete, lowercase, and jazz.
